Chinup
Chinup is energy and melancholy captured in simple melodies and pulsing rhythms. Willful but catchy pop songs, one foot in the groove and the other firmly set in indie rock. Their eclectic debut album The Horse in Motion was well received by the audience and the critics (“This is a very professional album, made by born musicians full of brilliant ideas” – LiveXS and “Brilliant in its simplicity, uplifting melancholy” – OOR). In the meanwhile they performed all over the place in Amsterdam and surroundings, and are known for their intense live shows.
Their forthcoming sophmore album Shine Bright Like A Diamond celebrates the space that opens up when freeing yourself from suffocating conventions. Defiantly careless, like Pavement, Tocotronic and Guided by Voices. Recorded in one go by Jan Schenk (Hospital Bombers, Claw Boys Claw). On the cover of the album you'll find a goat. The one animal not created by God, but by the devil. The prophets of Chinup are chasing you down the gates of hell during their 11-song magnum opus. Surrender yourself and you’ll be rewarded forever and ever.
Club Dino’s
This band was formed in and named after the infamous Dino’s Afterhours Club – ‘the Nr 1 afterhours club’ – in the Amsterdam Docks in 2014, with only one intention in mind: loud guitars. These four gentlemen’s performances are quite diverse, some songs are dripping with melancholy and pain where on the other end of the spectrum sometimes a lost hint of awkward joy can be discovered. Their music is like spontaneous combustion of alternative rock with hints of stoner and grunge.
Port of Call
Port of Call is a solo project by Pieter van Vliet. Influenced by contemporary songwriters like Jeff Mangum, Jason Molina and Bill Callahan he started writing songs. In July 2012 the first - highly appraised - full-length album Ten Feet of Wind came out. Youth, carelessness and Greek goddesses are entangled with roaring trombones, banjo’s and tape-recorders; soaked in a sweet/sweet/sweet scent of intimacy. Port of Call has extensively toured through Europe and Canada. His second full-length album will be released in 2016.
